Streichfett Plugin EN2023-08-16T14:39:01+02:00

The String Machine as a Plug-In

The sound engine of the legendary Waldorf Streichfett hardware is now available as a plug-in for your DAW, fat sound for a very affordable price supporting all common formats (VST3, VST2, AU, AAX).

The clearly structured user interface offers direct access to all important sound shaping parameters. Making and playing music is the main focus here. With a few clicks, drastic sound changes are easily made and can be saved as your favourite presets.

The UI is continuously scalable. Whether you use a 5K monitor or the FHD screen of your laptop, whether viewing in full size or as a small status display – the plug-in always remains in focus.

The Streichfett takes you back to the days of the legendary String Machines. In the old days, there was no choice – to create a massive wall of sound, you simply needed a String Machine.

These keyboard instruments mastered sound layering perfectly long before the advent of polyphonic synthesizers.

It was the time when composing contemporary music had no resemblance to doing your annual tax return on a PC. It was the golden years of rock and pop, when even keyboard players simply plugged their instrument into the amp and started playing, instead of labouring over endless preset lists in search of the perfect sound.

Now there is Streichfett – and the good old days are coming back. Experience what a real String Synthesizer sounds like. Experience how a homogeneous, extremely dense, floating web of sounds can be created from a raw, basic electronic sound in just a few simple steps.

Streichfett combines the best of the previously extinct species of String Synthesizers of the 70s and early 80s. Its dual sound engine features a fully polyphonic String Section and an eight voice Solo Section, which is essential for recreating classic movie sounds from the 70s and 80s. The Ensemble Effect provides depth and movement to the String Section, while the Effects Section adds adjustable Phaser and Reverb effects. Additionally, the Animate Effect can be used to modulate the Strings Registration, allowing spectacular sound morphs.

The Solo Section offers presets named Bass, E-Piano or Clavi, and just like with a typical String Machine, the sound has little to do with that name. Instead, these are shimmering and slightly percussive sounds that blend well with the String Section. Although the User Interface is simple and easy to comprehend, it controls a rather complex sound engine which is capable of delivering rich and creamy pads unlike any other instrument.

I have purchased a Waldorf plugin before December 2016. Now I want to install the software again, but the eLicenser registration process does not work and the software cannot be installed.2022-12-02T12:37:12+01:00

We made a system change in December 2016. Since then, we no longer work with the eLicenser, but use an in-house licensing system. It is no longer possible to carry out new installations with an eLicenser.

If you need a new licence, please contact our support:

support@waldorfmusic.com

Which licensing system is being used and how often can I install the software?2023-09-07T12:43:13+02:00

We use our own in-house licensing system which is fully software based. A dongle is not neccessary. Our software can not be installed using an eLicenser anymore.

With the purchase of one license, the software can be installed and used on up to 3 computers simultaneously.

The activation of my plugin doesn’t work.2023-09-07T12:40:30+02:00

Enter the activation info manually, not with copy and paste.

Please load the plugin in another DAW. On Mac, you can use Garageband. On Windows, you may use the free VSTHOST/SAVIHost. Activate it there and then load it again from the DAW that you normally use.

I have downloaded and installed the software, but I can’t open or execute it anywhere.2023-09-07T12:37:51+02:00

Our plugins are made to be used as an instrument in a DAW, like Ableton Live, Cubase, Logic, Bitwig etc. You can call up the plugins within those programs. Runnin them as a standalone application is not possible. The Waldorf Edition contains 3 plugins (Attack, PPG2 and D-Pole). Attack and PPG must be loaded as instruments and D-Pole as audio FX.

I can’t install your software on my Mac! The file I’ve downloaded isn’t executable, my system tells me: Can’t be opened because it is from an unidentified developer.2022-12-02T13:21:13+01:00

Right-click (Ctrl+click) the package you’ve downloaded, and select Open or go on Open with and choose the standard installation program. Now click on Open in the next pop-up and the installation will start.

Further information can be found here.

How can I save my changes as a favorite?2022-12-02T13:25:03+01:00

For storing a sound, click and hold any of the desired Memory button until its flashing.
After that, the current sound is saved to this location.

Are the sounds from the Streichfett hardware also available?2022-12-02T13:27:28+01:00

The factory sounds of the Streichfett hardware are already available in the Streichfett plug-in.
Since the hardware has 12 memory locations, you will find the factory sounds on bank A 1-8 and on bank B 1-4.
The option “Reset to Factory Presets” restores the factory state.
Please note that both banks A and B will be overwritten.
